Sightseeing in Srinagar : The summer state capital is situated at an altitude of 1730 meters above sea level. It is connected by air to every part of the national network. Some of the most famous shrines/mosques are located in Srinagar city, which includes the shrines of Shah-i-Hamdan, Hazratbal Shrine on the banks of Dal Lake, Jamia Masjid. The River Jhelum also flows through a part of the city. The Gandola Cable Car offers rides to the upland meadow of Kongdori and beyond to the top of Apharwat range to a height of 14,000 ft for viewing the Himalayan peaks in summer and for downhill skiing in winter.
