The 'Dhoongri' temple at Manali, dedicated to the goddess 'Hadimba', is believed to be over a thousand years old. Two miles(three Km.) from Manali are the sulfer springs of 'Bashishta' and a little higher up is a small Bhrigu' lake, named after a sage. The Kullu valley ends as the road winds up through rocky ranges to 'Rohtang Pass',The gateway to the enchanting Lahaul and Spiti Valleys.
Manali is circled by beautiful glades of deodars and flowering horse chestnuts. It is an ideal place for walks, climbs, treks and picnics, it is also an important trade centre.
